PET bottles shredder (filetador)
Aiming to reduce the volume of PET bottles
carried by "catadores" (people who collect bottles and other kinds of
waste from streets), Takashi Utsumi developed a device with which one
can rapidly shred PET bottles into ribbons or strings. Those ribbons
and strings turned out to be highly suitable to be used in craftwork,
since they could be woven to make boxes, bags, baskets and many other
utilitarian and decorative items.
From 2002 up to the end of 2010 we offered two shredder models: the
F-200, which produced 2cm-wide ribbons; and the F-15/40, which produced
1.5 - 4mm-wide ribbons. Now these models are being replaced by two new
ones, using new types of material, and which can be sold at lower
prices. The new models are:
- The F-200 C,
which
allows shredding 2 liters bottles and also bottles with smaller
volume (in substitution to the F-200, with which only 2 liters bottles
could be cut);
- The Mini-shredder,
a
development from popular simpler shredders, easier and less expensive
to build than its predecessor, the F-15/40. Using this new model
requires some practice and a little bit more attention than with the
F-15-40, but also produces PET strings perfectly suitable to use in
craftwork.

Obs.: By now, we are not able to
export PET shredders, but once we get to do it, we will put an advice
in this section of the website.
